Melissa’s Kaylee Lewis wins gold in the 200 meters at state meet
Lewis, Abigail Bass both win 2 medals each
Austin - The Melissa Cardinal track teams sent a strong group of qualifiers to the UIL Class 4A state meet Austin on May 6. The women’s team was led by senior Kaylee Lewis who captured another gold medal in both the 200 meters (24.38). She also took home the silver medal in the 100 meters with a time of 11.78.
Sophomore Abigail Bass pulled off the meet double in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. Bass finished third in the 1600 with a time of 5:03.93 and won the silver in the 3200 with a winning time of 10:54.03.
The Melissa girls team finished with 32 points which put them third overall behind Kennedale and Canyon.
Senior Lucas Tauch finished seventh in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:35.02. Tauch also picked up a third in the 3200 meter run with a time of 9:35.25.
Carlos Branch had a ninth place time of 22.99 in the 200 meters. Ryan Johnson finished ninth in Austin in high jump with a leap of 6-02.00.

Anna Coyotes State Meet - Track Results:
Austin - The Anna Coyotes track team competed at the UIL Class 4A state meet and Kenny Bibb, who was the lone qualifier for Anna with a sixth place finish in the 800 meter run.
