Lady Cardinals still undefeated, at the top of the pack in District 9-4A play

Melissa - The Melissa Lady Cardinals (5-0/15-1) got a couple of District 9-4A games this week and remained at the top of district play tied with Aubrey at 5-0. The two teams faced off on Tuesday, March 30 to round out the first half of district competition. 

On March 26 they got a win over Celina 3-0 after picking up a win over Sanger 10-1 earlier in the week. 

District 9-4A matchups last week included Melissa’s two wins and Aubrey picked up another win over Anna 20-16, Celina defeated Sanger 18-0 and Van Alstyne defeated Anna 15-1. 

Season leaders for Melissa on offense include: Batting Average - Rachel Wells .658, Emily Johnson .537, Kindred Johnson . 488, Bryton Wright .471, Autumn Bell .465, Cristie Stevenson .433 and Aeryn Shuman .371.  

Season leaders for Melissa on offense include: On Base Percentage (OBP) - Rachel Wells .711, Emily Johnson .635, Bryton Wright .625, Kindred Johnson .596, Cristie Stevenson .595, Autumn Bell .538, and Aeryn Shuman .500. 

Lady Cardinal leaders in runs scored include: Emily Johnson 28, Kindred Johnson 27, Autumn Bell 24, Rachel Wells 20, Cristie Stevenson 15, Kaitlyn Wells 13, and Aeryn Shuman 9. 

Melissa’s leaders in runs batted in (RBI) include: Rachel Wells 33, Kindred Johnson 19, Emily Johnson 18, Bryton Wright 17, Autumn Bell 17, Kaitlyn Wells 16, Cristie Stevenson 9 and Aeryn Shuman 6. 

Lady Cardinal leaders in extra base hits include: Doubles - Rachel Wells 7, Emily Johnson 7, Kindred Johnson 5, Kaitlyn Wells 4, Aeryn Shuman 4, Autumn Bell 4, Cristie Stevenson 1  and Bryton Wright 1, 

Lady Cardinal leaders in extra base hits include: Triples - Emily Johnson 4, Kindred Johnson 3, Autumn Bell 3, Kaitlyn Wells 1 and Rachel Wells 1.

Lady Blue Hawk leaders in extra base hits include: Home Runs - Rachel Wells 10, Bryton Wright 5, Kaitlyn Wells 3, Emily Johnson 2, Autumn Bell 1 and Cristie Stevenson 1. 

Junior Bryton Wright continues to be stellar on the mound for the Lady Cardinals with an impeccable 14-1 record. Wright has a 0.44 Earned Run Average (ERA) for the season combined with a 1.53 On Base Percentage Allowed (OBPA) and 143 strikeouts (which is just less than 10 strikeouts per game). 

Melissa (5-0/15-1) is sitting in the top spot in the district with Aubrey (5-0/13-2) in the second spot. The remainder of the district sits at Van Alstyne (4-2/8-3), Celina (2-2/5-6), Sanger (1-4/4-12), Anna (1-5/3-9-1) and Gainesville (0-4/0-8) based on stats from MaxPreps.  

This week’s District 9-4A games include: March 30 - Sanger at Gainesville and Aubrey at Melissa; April 1 - Sanger at Springtown (non-district); April 2 - Aubrey at Celina, Anna at Melissa, Van Alstyne at Gainesville; April 5 - Sanger at Van Alstyne, Celina at Anna, Gainesville at Aubrey; April 9 - Melissa at Celina and Aubrey at Sanger.  

Anna - The Lady Coyotes are currently sitting at (1-5/3-9-1) on the season according to games reported to MaxPreps. They only had two losses the past week which included 15-1 to Van Alstyne and then 20-16 to District 9-4A co-leader Aubrey.
