Melissa continues to control the top spots in District 9-4A boys, girls basketball

Melissa - The Melissa Lady Cardinals (7-1/16-4) continued to cruise through District 9-4A with a big win over Celina 78-34. The Lady Cardinals are tied with Sanger (7-1/14-5) at the top of the district.

Melissa (6-1/15-4) and Sanger (7-1/14-5) are tied up at the top of the standings in the District 9-4A race. The remainder of the district standings are as follows: Aubrey 6-3/8-7), Van Alstyne (5-3/11-7), Celina (2-6/7-3), Anna (0-6/4-14) and Gainesville (0-7/0-15).

This week’s District 9-4A matchups for the girls include January 19: Van Alstyne at Aubrey, Sanger at Anna and Gainesville at Melissa.

Melissa Boys basketball recap-

The Melissa Cardinal boys basketball team held onto their top spot and now are sitting at 6-1 in the District 9-4A race. The Cardinals picked up a win this past week after going on the road to Celina and winning 52-38. 

The District 9-4A race finds Melissa (6-1/10-6) in the top spot with Van Alstyne (5-1/10-8) holding down second place. The remainder of the district includes: Anna (5-2/14-5), Celina (4-3/13-9), Aubrey (2-4/7-8), Gainesville (1-5/5-11) and Sanger 0-7/3-13). 

This week’s District 9-4A schedule for the boys includes January 19: Anna at Sanger, Melissa at Gainesville and Aubrey at Van Alstyne; January 22: Van Alstyne at Anna and Gainesville at Celina; January 26: Melissa at Van Alstyne, Anna at Aubrey and Celina at Sanger.
