Coyotes basketball sitting at top of District 9-4A after 1st week

Anna - The Coyote boys basketball team is sitting at 1-0 after their first district game in a win over Gainesville 45-34 last week. Anna had also picked up a win earlier in the week in their last non-district game winning 49-40 over Community.

The Coyotes hosted Sanger on Tuesday, December 22 for another district game. Anna will play two more contests during the holidays traveling to Van Alstyne on Tuesday, December 29 and then hosting Aubrey in a New Year's day matchup on January 1. 

The District 9-4A boys basketball district race sits with Anna (9-3/1-0) at the top. Aubrey (6-4/1-0), Celina (9-5/1-0), Gainesville (4-5/1-0), Sanger (3-7/0-1) and Van Alstyne (5-7/0-0) round out the remainder of the district opponents. 

The Anna Lady Coyotes are currently sitting at 0-2 in district and 4-9 on the season after Tuesday, December 15 night’s game. The Lady Coyotes traveled to Celina (0-1/5-8) for the district showdown and dropped the loss 69-35.  

Anna opened district play with a 79-14 loss to district leading Melissa. In the first night of District 9-4A games Aubrey (1-0/3-4) defeated Celina (0-1/5-8) 47-34 and Van Alstyne (1-0/7-4) knocked off Gainesville (0-1/0-6) 63-7.

The Lady Coyotes holiday schedule includes a road trip to Sanger on December 22, a home game against Van Alstyne on December 29, away game at Aubrey on January 2 and at Melissa on January 8. All of the contests are District 9-4A contests. 

Melissa (11-3/2-0) is leading the district race after three contests and they are followed by Aubrey (5-4/3-0), Sanger (8-5/1-1), Van Alstyne (7-5/1-1), Celina (6-9/1-2), Anna (4-9/0-2) and Gainesville (0-9/0-2).
