Jennifer Clark wins Melissa council race

 Melissa voters have chosen Jennifer Clark to fill the Place 1 City Council seat being vacated by Stacy Jackson.  She defeated challenger Carl Finnell in the Nov. 2 special election. 

“I am so grateful for the support I've received from my family, our dear friends, Melissa businesses, and Melissa residents,” Clark said in a Nov. 3 social media post thanking voters.  “It has been such a joy to meet people that have been here 20+ years and people who moved here last month. I am humbled by the results of the election yesterday. I appreciate the trust that the voters of this wonderful town have shown in putting a checkmark by my name. I look forward to serving the residents of the city as a member of Melissa City Council.” 

Clark received 502 votes, which was more than 65 percent of the 766 total votes cast. According to unofficial numbers from Collin Count officials, 312 people took advantage of early voting while 537 showed up to the polls on election day.  An additional eight people submitted their votes via mail.
