Portion of Melissa Road closed through November
A portion of Melissa Road between State Highway 5 and Miller Road will be closed for around three months as crews complete a reconstruction project. When finished, the section of road will be able to accommodate four lanes on a new concrete surface.
Curbs and drainage gutters will also be added. For the past few months, crews have been preparing for the project by building an improved stormwater drainage system under the road.
Motorists will need to find different ways of getting around town while construction is being done. State Highway 121 and Pennsylvania Avenue are among the suggested alternate routes. Melissa officials ask the public to exercise caution and remain patient.
Upon completion of this project, work on the section of Melissa Read between Miller Road and State Highway 121 will commence.
City officials say that residents will still be able to access Bee Builders and The Feed Store via Cooper Street. The Melissa Fire Department has also confirmed that its emergency operations will not be impacted by the road work.
