Anna gears up for National Night Out
The city of Anna wants all its neighbors to be a part of this year’s National Night Out. Festivities will take place on Tuesday Oct. 5. City officials say that the annual community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie, making neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. They add that the event also provides a great opportunity for everyone to gather together under positive circumstances, get to know each other and have fun.
During the evening, residents are asked to turn on their porch lights and spend time outside with neighbors. Local police officers, firefighters and city officials will be visiting multiple events throughout the evening. The city of Anna has set up a link on its website where people can official register their party.
Those interested in hosting a block party are invited to visit the City of Anna website and sign up for a seminar hosted by Neighborhood Services Coordinator Olivia Demings. Among the topics she will cover will be how to engage or organize your neighbors, how to spread the word, and what permits are required to block of a street and host a party. She will also discuss food and entertainment options as wee as how to reserve Anna’s new block party trailer.
