Ferguson Parkway work to be completed Friday

staff reports
Plans call for the Melissa Parks and Trails system to connect almost all city neighborhoods to the park as well as the future expanded downtown sector.

Construction on northbound Ferguson Parkway south of White Street should be completed by Friday morning. The section of road had been closely nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. so that city and TxDOT Staff could remove and replace a heaved section of pavement in the area.

Melissa officials consider new highway crossing

City of Melissa officials announced last week that it will be seeking money for a sub-surface crossing of State highway 121 at Clemmons Creek near the Brookside subdivision. They hope to obtain financing from the Collin County Park and Open Space fund.

According to city officials, the crossing would essentially be a trail across and under the Clemmons Creek overpass, approximately a quarter-mile west of the highway's intersection with Milrany Lane.  It would provide access for pedestrians and cyclists and connect to Melissa High School. More residents would then be able to use city trails to connect to a 90-acre park being developed near the intersection of Liberty Way and Throckmorton Road.
