Anna fire captain joins leadership program
Anna Fire Rescue Captain Cody Nelson has been selected to take part in the Fire Service Chief Executive Officer leadership program. The special training curriculum presented by Texas A&M Mays Business School professors is a professional development program that aims to sharpen the leadership skills of fire service executives. It also helps fire commanders gain a broader perspective of executive level challenges as they interact with business professors, corporate leaders and fire chiefs from around the state. Participants will also learn about creativity and innovation, managing change and transition, media relations, and stress management.
“This program is an excellent opportunity to elevate current and future leaders in their professional growth,” Anna Fire Chief Ray Isom says. “It addresses the many challenges of executive leadership, finance, ethics, strategic management, and organizational planning.”
A Texas A&M forest Service grant helped fund the training. It is offered through the TEEX Emergency Service Training Institute. Nelson will begin training in May.
The timing of the training coincides perfectly with the Anna department’s staffing plans. They call for the implementation of its first Battalion Chief within the next month.
