Melissa FD to host Santa run
An extra special visitor is returning to Melissa this weekend. Santa Claus will team up with the Melissa Fire Department Dec. 18- 20 to visit as many local kids as possible. The man of the season will ride atop the department’s brush truck while other firefighters accompany him on their engines.
“We obviously want Santa Claus to be so familiar with Melissa neighborhoods that he and his reindeer will not miss any of the city’s kids on Christmas Eve,” Interim Fire Chief Carl Nix said.
“Taking him from neighborhood to neighborhood and pointing out the different residential areas ensures that on Christmas Eve, his flying sled will make it to every Melissa home.”
The Santa Run has become a treasured tradition for many Melissa residents. While COVID-19 forced the cancelations of the city’s annual breakfast with Santa, Melissa firefighters and old St. Nick himself weren’t about to let a little global pandemic ruin all the holiday cheer. To help families plan ahead, Santa has released an expected itinerary for his weekend trek across town.
