ANNA — A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week for the ER at Anna, a service of Texoma Medical Center that will be located on 15 acres of land at 2710 Hackberry Drive. The 14,000-square-foot facility, which will be north of the city water tower near Walmart, will feature 24 hours a day, seven days a week service, including diagnostic imaging such as CT scans, X-rays, MRI, and Ultrasound, acceptance of Medicare and Medicaid, and direct admission to Texoma Medical Center in Denison — among other amenities.

“This all started about two years ago,” Anna Mayor Nate Pike said on how this facility became possible. “The leadership of Texoma Medical Center approached the city of Anna and they saw our vision of Anna. They (TMC) noticed where we were headed with growth, wanted to be apart of this community, invest in health care in Anna, and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.”

The ER at Anna will be the region’s second freestanding emergency facility to be operated under the license of TMC, which is the leading trauma center in Grayson County. TMC recently took over operations of the ER at Sherman, which was previously known as Select ER when opened its doors to the public in late 2016 at the northern edge of the Sherman Town Center.

“Any area that is growing in population and industry as Anna is, appreciates having these kinds of services so near to where they work and live.” TMC Chief Executive Officer Ron Seal said after the event. “We are very happy with our partnership with Anna, and pleased to bring these services to the people of this community.”

In addition to Pike, Greater Anna Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kevin Hall, TMC Board Chairman Bill Douglass and TMC Chaplain Rickey Hargrave spoke at the groundbreaking. Many shared the sentiments of Seal and seemed excited to have the facility in the ever growing city of Anna.

“With the explosive growth we are experiencing in Anna having a partnership with the quality health care of Texoma Medical Center is crucial as we move forward as a city,” Pike said of the community impact of the facility. “We are extremely excited and appreciative of partnering with TMC in Anna… TMC also purchased 15 acres of land that will provide plenty of opportunity for expansion for this location in the future.”

Construction of the ER at Anna is estimated to be complete by the fall of 2020.
