The Decatur Eagles defeated Melissa 59-34 in non-district basketball action Jan. 3 at Melissa Middle School.

The Eagles (15-6) built a 31-20 lead by halftime and dominated the second half, canning seven three-pointers along the way.

Guard Calaway Dykes led Decatur’s effort with a game-high 17 points, including four threes.

Guard Phoenix Bramhall posted a team-high eight points for Melissa (10-10) while fellow guard Ezra Monroe chipped in seven.

The Cards have three non-district contest remaining before opening district play at Anna on Jan. 17.
