Melissa junior Judson Greer claimed first place at the Foot Locker South Regional cross country championship on Nov. 30 at Charlotte, North Carolina. Competing against 402 runners from 14 states, Greer finished the 5-kilometer distance in 14 minutes, 57.4 seconds — just ahead of Coen Roberts of South Carolina.
Greer and the next nine finishers at Charlotte qualified to compete in the Foot Locker National Cross Country Championship, Dec. 14, at San Diego’s Balboa Park. There, 40 runners from across the U.S. will race for the title.
In UIL competition, Greer is Texas’ two-time Class 4A defending cross country champion. He also claimed two gold medals at last spring’s Class 4A track and field championships in Austin — one in the 1,600 meters, one in the 3,200 meters. Greer is the son of Reed and Kerry Greer.
