Anna downed Whitesboro, 17-2, in district team tennis action on Sept. 24 at the Anna Sports Complex. The win improves the Coyotes’ district mark to 3-0 and sets up a showdown with Argyle for the district title, Oct. 1 at Argyle. Anna’s girls are now 27-0 in district singles and doubles matches this season.


The Coyotes’ Girls Singles winners versus Whitesboro were Morgan Sharp, 6-1, 7-5; Andrea Alvarez, 6-3, 6-2; Molli Woodbury, 6-2, 6-3; Addy Schofield, 6-1, 6-0; Maura Ballard, 8-2; and Liz Engdahl, 8-1. Boys Singles winners for Anna included Bow Gates, 6-4, 6-2; Simon Geren, 6-1, 6-2; Ryan Lamar, 6-3, 6-1; Brendan Muisyo, 8-4; Zackari Eade, 8-0.


In Girls Doubles, Coyote winners included Sharp/Alvarez, 6-1, 6-3; Schofield/Woodbury, 6-4, 6-1; and Ballard/Olivia Simmons, 6-1, 6-2. Boys Doubles winners were Jesus Garrido/Geren, 6-1, 6-2, and Lamar/Muisyo, 6-0, 6-1. In Mixed Doubles, Anna’s Anthony Melendez and Payton Wickliffe won, 6-1, 6-2.
