The Bushland Falcons opened the district schedule with a convincing 42-13 road win against Slaton on Friday night at Tigers Stadium in Slaton. The Falcons move to 1-0 in District 2-3A Division I while Slaton falls to 4-2, 0-1.
Bushland quarterback Wren Watson was efficient through the air, going 21-of-28 for 263 yards and three scores. He also ran for an 8-yard TD.
Jake Orcutt hauled in thre of those passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Ryne Frederiksen had nine catches for 58 yards.
Clayton Heetland also got in on the fun, making three catches for 64 yards that included a 37 yard touchdown strike from Watson.

Shallowater 56, River Road 11: In their District 2-3A Division I opener, River Road couldn’t contain Shallowater’s prolific offense, before falling to the Mustangs 56-11 on Friday at Wildcat Stadium in Amarillo.
Leading 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, Shallowater outscored River Road 28-3 to put the game out of reach for the Wildcats. The Mustangs also forced the Wildcats into committing three turnovers – two interceptions and one fumble.
River Road tumbled to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in district, while Shallowater remained perfect at 6-0 and 1-0 in district play. The Wildcats will host Slaton next week, while the Mustangs will host Muleshoe.River Road 56, Shallowater 11

Childress 47, Friona 28: The No. 3-ranked Childress Bobcats put up 34 first half points to outscore Friona 47-28 on Friday night at Chieftains Stadium.
The first half saw plenty of points, with the Bobcats taking a 34-28 lead into halftime.
The Childress defense tightened up in the second half, holding Friona scoreless in the second half, as Childress was able to pull away.
The Bobcats are 6-0 overall on the year and move to 1-0 in Distrcit 3-3A Division II. The Chieftains fall to 4-2, 0-1.
Childress quarterback Luke Latimer threw for 295 yards with a pair of touchdowns. in the win.
Childress will visit No. 9 Canadian this Friday at 7 p.m. at Wildcats Stadium.

Canadian 52, Tulia 14: Casen Cavalier threw for five touchdown passes to lead No. 9 Canadian past Tulia in the Wildcats District 1-3A opener Friday night at Younger Field.
Cavalier was able to pick a part the Hornets defense most of the night, throwing for 312 yards on 17-of-26 passing.
Canadian improves to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in district play. Tulia falls to 2-4, 0-1.
Trent Evans led all receivers, hauling in seven of Cavalier’s passes for a game-high 112 yards with a pair of touchdowns.
Garrison McCook, Tate Mitchell and Twister Kelton were also on the receiving end of Cavalier TDs.
Tulia led 8-7 in the first quarter, before the Wildcats reeled off 39 unanswered points.

Panhandle 69, Boys Ranch 0: The Panhandle Panthers opened district play with a 69-0 rout of Boys Ranch on Friday night at Panthers Stadium.
The Panthers improve to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in District 1-2A Division I. Boys Ranch falls to 0-6, 0-1.
The Panthers scored on every possession, putting up 661 yards of total offense. Most of those yards came by way of the ground game, with Panhandle rushing for 435 yards. Thane Adams led the team with five carries for 148 yards and a score. Joe Smith added three scores on 104 yards rushing.
Quarterback Braden Durst was 10-of-13 passing for 224 yards with two TDs.

Stratford 42, Clarendon 14: Stratford proved they are still a force to be reckon with, over powering Clarendon in a somewhat surprising 42-14 rout on Friday night at E.L. Sam Bass Stadium in Stratford.
The Elks had struggled through a tough nondistrict schedule, however, this win gives them a 3-4 record but more importantly 1-0 in District 3-2A Division II.
The Broncos suffer their first loss of the year, falling to 5-1 and 0-1.
Stratford ran the ball right at the Broncos defense, chewing up 235 yards on the ground. Running back Iuden Romero carried the ball 15 times for 107 yards with three touchdown runs of three, two and five yards. Ty McBryde followed with 89 yards on seven carries and a TD.

Vega 35, Booker 0: The Vega Longhorns used a big first half to blank Booker 35-0 on Friday night at Longhorns Stadium.
The Kiowas had no answer for Vega running back Riley Tiemann, who had a game-high 161 yards on only nine carries with three scores. Tiemann scored on runs of 62, 52 and three yards.
Carson Kirkland added 93 yards rushing with 96 yards passing for a combined two touchdowns.
Vega is now 4-3 overall and 1-0 in District 2-2A Division II. Booker falls to 1-5, 0-1.
