Sprinter Jazmin Pender and middle-distance runner Raye Moran each earned gold medals for Anna at the Melissa Invitational meet at Cardinal Stadium on March 23. Pender topped the field in the 400-meters with a time a 1 minute, 1.06 seconds, while Moran bested the 1,600-meter competition in a time of 5 minutes, 32.13 seconds.
Tamaya Tutson claimed silver medals in both the 100- and 200-meter dash, with times of 13.56 and 26.9 seconds, respectively. Madison Hemenway also earned silver for Anna in the 1,600 meters, covering the distance in 5 minutes, 50.62 seconds, and earned fourth-place points in the 3,200 meters with a time of 13 minutes, 13.5 seconds.
Other Lady Coyotes who placed included 200 relay team members Jada Ramirez, Nicole Stockton, Precious Antwi and Racheal Readus, who earned fourth place with a time of 52.51 seconds, and 100 team members Jasmine Harper, Abby Sanders, Antwi and Stockton, who placed fifth with a 52.51-second finish.
Overall, the Lady Coyotes team finished fourth in the eight-team field.
On the boys’ side at Melissa, Anna’s 400 relay team of Keelan Crosby, Emmonte Davis, Amyri Cox and Elijah Smith took the silver medal with a time of 3 minutes, 34.02 seconds. Elijah Smith also claimed silver in the 200-meter dash, completing the distance 23.09 seconds. In the shot put, Daunte Rose earned bronze with throw of 42 feet, 7 inches, while fellow Coyote Travis Shouse earned fifth-place points with a toss of 41 feet, 7.5 inches.
In the 800 meters, David Arroyo claimed bronze with a time of 2 minutes, 10.18 seconds and a second behind him was teammate Cameron Furstenberg, who took fourth in time a of 2 minutes, 11.38 seconds. Anna’s 100 relay team of Crosby, Antonio Moon, Johnathan Venable and Donald Maloid placed sixth, finishing in a time of 46.51 seconds.
As a team, the Coyotes placed fifth in a nine-team field.
