Senior Gill Gray set a new Melissa school record in the triple jump at the Van Alstyne Panther Relays on Thursday, March 9, with a leap of 37 feet, 2.75 inches. The effort earned her a silver medal in the event and she went on to claim gold in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 1 minute, 0.45 seconds. Meanwhile, fellow senior Maddie Kane continued her dominance in the 300-meter hurdles with a gold-medal finishing time of 47.63 seconds. She also completed the 800-meter run in a personal-best time of 2 minutes, 30 seconds for fourth place in that event.

In the 100-meter dash, Lady Cardinal senior Bryanna Hernandez captured a silver medal with a time of 13.04 seconds. Gray placed fourth in the event, finishing in 13.61 seconds. Hernandez also grabbed silver in the 200, while setting a personal-best time of 26.78 seconds.

Melissa junior Marissa Brunson nabbed second place in the pole-vault with a personal-best height of 8 feet, 6 inches. Her freshman teammate, Alison Kocsis, claimed silver in the 3,200 meters, with personal-best time of 12 minutes, 39 seconds. She also took fifth in the 1,600-meter run, with a time of 6 minutes, 3.82 seconds. In the high jump, sophomore Sally Clemmons’ leap of 4 feet, 6 inches took fifth place.
