Anna’s Coyotes won every match in a three-team meet with Bonham and Nevada Community on Monday, Feb. 27, at the Anna Tennis Complex.

“This is the first time in school history that they have accomplished a clean sweep with a 19-0 overall record for the evening,” Coyotes head coach Vince Sharp said.

Anna dominated in most every match. In girls singles, Maddie Gillespie won 8-0 in matches against each opponent school’s top girl. Mary Beth Geren also wo, 8-0 against Community’s top player and prevailed 8-2 over Bonham’s best. Aly Fudge also won her match against Bonham 8-0.

In girls doubles, Sydney Jones and Jewel Canty felled Community 8-0, while Nalyn Koenig and Zoe Stumbaugh defeated a pair from the same team 8-1.

In boys singles action, Rowdy Lairson knocked off both of Bonham’s top players 8-1, 8-2, as Spencer May defeated his Bonham opponent 8-3 and Anthony Jaramillo outlasted his challenger from Bonham 8-7.

In boys doubles, Anna’s Johnny Alvarado and Zack Eade defeated Bonham’s top team 8-1 and Community’s 8-4. Jonah Parker and Jesus Garrido won 8-6 and 8-2 against both of Bonham’s top teams. In mixed doubles, Coyotes Spencer May and Angel Dube won 8-4 over Community, as did Simon Geren and Aly Fudge, 8-2. Also, Jaramillo and Alex Erbynn beat Community’s number two team 8-0, and Geren and Erbynn also won 8-0 against Community’s number two.
