In a game the district-champion Anna Coyotes (9-1) didn’t need to win, they won anyway – 63-54, on Tuesday, Feb. 14, on their home court. With the loss, Celina (5-5) fell into a three-way tie for third in District 11-4A with Princeton and Aubrey, and one of those teams won’t make the playoffs. Melissa is in as the No. 2 seed by virtue of its win over Aubrey and the Coyotes’ victory.

Anna finishes the regular season with a 25-7 record and will face Quinlan Ford in the bi-district playoff round at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Wylie.

Celina led the Coyotes, 26-24, at halftime then fell into a 37-37 tie after three quarters. In the fourth, Anna blew up with a 17-6 surge to seal the win. The Bobcats’ Karson Stastny collected a game-high 18 points, as Keamoni Mattocks and Dillon Lewis teamed up for 14 points each to lead Anna.
