Anna’s Lady Coyotes picked up their first victory of the young season on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Commerce, rallying to edge the Class 3A Lady Tigers, 33-32.

“Down nine late in the third (quarter), we found a way to claw back and win,” Anna head coach Grant Bergman said. “Big shots from (junior) Taylor Medrick, (freshman) Marianna Bert and (sophomore) Angel Dube gave us momentum.”

Medrick led all Lady Coyote scorers with 10 points, as junior JaShell Evans and freshman Marianna Bert each tallied 6.

Anna (1-4) pulled away with a big fourth quarter after trailing, 26-19, at the end of three periods.

“This first win, I hope, will give us confidence we need heading into two tournament weekends upcoming,” Bergman said

Commerce remains winless on the season.
