Melissa traveled a few hours to win their game on Friday night against Nocona. Not many teams have taken Melissa to five games in recent years, especially not a smaller school, but the Lady Indians proved how tough they are when they took Melissa the distance.

After the road trip, the Lady Cardinals had a bye week on Tuesday night and will travel to Denison on Friday night looking to improve their record to 16-1.

"The Lady Cardinals showed that all of their hard work put in so far has paid off," Coach Whitney Nelson said after the game. "The whole team did amazing and we are proud of each athletes contributions and efforts tonight."

Amber Melcher had an outstanding night for Melissa, scoring 15 points off of serves and Madison Rose led the team with 15 kills.

The Lady Cardinals won in the opener 25-22 but Nocona came back and won the second game 25-21 and took the third, extended game 30-28 to put Melissa in a must-win situation.

The Lady Cardinals responded with a strong outing in game four, winning 25-18 and swinging the momentum back in their favor to help them take the final game 15-13.

Alli Boedecker was stellar on defense, finishing the set with eight blocks. Ashley Henger led the team with 15 digs and Amanda Kocsis added 13 for Melissa. Connar Newberry finished the game with 11 kills.
