The Lady Coyotes finished the first half of their district schedule with two losses over the past week, an 8-4 heartbreaker against Bonham on Friday and a 10-0 loss at the hands of Princeton on March 25. Anna is now 1-3 in district play with its lone win coming against Melissa.

The Lady Coyotes will have a bye this weekend and travel to Melissa on Tuesday night, looking for a win that could clinch a playoff spot.

Princeton 10, Anna 0

Anna struggled against tough Princeton pitching on Tuesday night as the Lady Panthers captured a run-ruled, 10-0 win in five innings at Anna.

In the top of the third inning, the Lady Panthers scored five runs on a two-run double, two singles and an RBI triple by Abby James. Princeton scored five runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Alexis Morton, a fielder’s choice, a two-run double by Makayla Smith and an RBI double by Rachel Solis.

Morton racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Lady Panthers.

Kaitlin Gibbons took the loss for Anna. She allowed 10 runs in five innings, walked one and struck out none.

Bonham 8, Anna 4

Both Bonham and Anna put runners aboard on Friday but it was the Lady Warriors who were able to take advantage, pulling out an 8-4 win at home.

Anna tallied 10 hits compared with the Lady Warriors ‘s seven but stranded seven runners on base.

Audrey Richardson had two extra-base hits for Bonham. She doubled in the second and sixth innings.

Allison Foster got it done in the circle on her way to the win. She allowed four runs over seven innings. Allison struck out four, walked two and gave up 10 hits.

Gibbons was the game’s losing pitcher. She allowed eight runs in six innings, walked four and struck out four.

The lead went to Bonham for good thanks to a second inning rally that featured two runs crossing the plate on an error and an RBI single by Ashton Sutton. Bonham answered Anna’s top inning with six runs of its own in the third. The Lady Warriors scored on a two-run error, a single by Ashton, a walk by Samantha Bennett, and an RBI single by Cheyenne Wicker.

After pushing across three runs in the top of the seventh, Anna faced just a 8-4 deficit. An error and a two-run home run by Danielle Gonzales gave Anna life, but in the end that life was short-lived.
