If you happened to spot a tour bus driving around Anna a couple of weeks ago, no, it wasn’t a bus load of lost seniors on the way to one of Oklahoma’s casinos.

The bus was actually full of area realtors on a tour of Anna hosted by the city’s Economic Development Corporation. The tour’s main focus "was to expose some 40 realtors, mostly from Collin County, to the housing options Anna has available," said Anna EDC Chief Operating Officer Jessica Perkins.

"This was actually the second time hosting a tour," explained Perkins. "We first did it in October, 2011. It went very well, and we decided to do it again."

There was a morning tour and an afternoon tour, with an overlapping lunch at Hurricane Creek Country Club. Realtors visited with Bloomfield Homes in West Crossing, saw their model home and enjoyed brunch hosted by Bloomfield Homes in the amenity center. They also visited and saw model homes at D.R. Horton Homes and LGI Homes.

The realtors had an opportunity to see much more than model homes.

"We toured the community, showed them our new schools, answered questions about enrollment, rating of schools, student-to-teacher ratios," continued Perkins. "They saw Slayter Creek and Natural Springs parks and our retail businesses."

Perkins also shared some post tour comments she received from the realtors. "Thanks Jessica. It was great and informative," wrote Peggy Robinson. From Brenda Tullous "I really enjoyed the tour of Anna and learned a lot about the new developments in your lovely city. I hope to be able to bring lots of buyers to Anna in the near future." Sandy Setliff said, "I really enjoyed the event and learned some great stuff. Great job and thanks so much."And Janith Boyd wrote "I enjoyed the tour and learned a few things about Anna I didn’t know before! Thanks for doing that."

"It’s all about the chicken and egg concept," Perkins summed up. "The more people come the more businesses come and the more businesses come the more people come."
