Anna and Melissa voters will head to the polls next week to cast their votes on a combined 10 candidates for five public offices.

Early voting will begin on April 25 and run through May 3 and be held at three locations — Anna City Hall, Melissa City Hall and Collin County Elections Office. Election Day will be conducted at all three locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 7.

The bulk of the candidates comes in Anna where there are two city council seats on the ballot. In Place 2 is incumbent Lauren Lovato, and she is being challenged by Rene Martinez. In Place 6, incumbent Dick Dowd will face off with challenger Lee Miller. In Place 4, former Anna mayor Kenneth Pelham is already the winner as incumbent Chad Barnes did not file for reelection.

Across town at Anna ISD, three school board trustees will be elected.

Place 1 incumbent Duane Hayes did not file for reelection, so voters will choose between Jaime Cook and Tom Plunkett. Place 3 incumbent Brent Hendricks will square off with challenger Rhonda Lewis. In Place 4, incumbent Shelli Conway will remain on the school board as she is running unopposed.

Further south in Melissa, voters will decide just one race, this one for city council as Place 2 incumbent Sharon Weideman will be on the ballot against challenger Chad Taylor.

In Place 4, Jay Northcutt is already the winner as incumbent Jason Kaiser did not file for reelection. Also running unopposed is Mayor Reed Greer, who will serve another term.

Melissa ISD cancelled its election as Place 6 incumbent Bruce Minchey and Place 7 incumbent Paul Anderson are running unopposed.
