Gene "Bo" D. Gatzert II

Anna - Gene "Bo" D. Gatzert II of Anna, TX unexpectedly lost his life on November 14, 2021. He was born in Montgomery, AL on March 16, 1980. He is preceded in death by his Sister, Christie Miller; maternal Grandparents, Imogene and Roger McKinney and paternal Grandmother, Grace Gatzert. Bo is survived in life by his Sons, Seth, Ari and stepson Caris; his Parents, Gene D. and Mary Jo Gatzert; his Brother Scott Gatzert and wife Judy; his paternal Grandfather, Tommie L. Gatzert, SR along with numerous Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.

Bo graduated from Judson High School in Converse, TX and joined the Air Force soon after in which he achieved the rank of Senior Airman. He served his country honorably, as a Combat Medic during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. At the age of 34, Bo surprised everyone with the desire to go to college. He proudly graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Tech in 2018 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Sociology. Bo's family is so proud of his dedication to his boys and family as he pursued his dreams. His passing will leave a gaping hole in our hearts, but we will always be grateful for the time we were given with him. Bo made certain that his family and friends knew they were the most important thing to him. Never was there a time, that a phone call was ended or a hug goodbye was given, that Bo did not say "I Love You".

The family will hold a visitation on December 6, 2021 from 3 to 8pm at Alamo City Church, 6500 I-35 N, San Antonio, TX 78218. A small ceremony will take place at 7pm, during visitation hours, for those who would like to attend. Internment, with full Honors, will take place at 10:30 am on December 7, 2021, at Fort Sam Houston National Memorial Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. The funeral procession will be accompanied by The San Antonio Patriot Guard riders, beginning promptly at 10am at Alamo City Church, traveling to Fort Sam Houston National Memorial Cemetery.

It is requested by the family that little to no black be worn.
