SHERMAN — Mary Brookins, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 83, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center in Sherman, surrounded by her family.

She was born September 23, 1934 to her parents Ben S. Means and Emily Elizabeth Means, at home in Denison. Mary, was a loving person who touched the lives of many people in her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceeded in death by her late first husband, Richard T. Brown; late husband, Kenneth J. Brookins; son, Dennis Wayne Brown who died in 1977; first grandchild, Andrea Camille Miller Schrank, who died of cancer April 25, 2017, at the age of 45; and brothers, Azle Means, Julian Means, Jack Means and Randal (Ran) Means.

Mary is survived by her sister, Lois June Hunt, of Denison; children, Brenda June Miller and Husband O.C., of Pottsboro, Teresa Leigh Williams, of Van Alstyne, James Dean Brown and wife Fay, of Sherman, and Mary Womack and husband Dean, of Van Alstyne; grandchildren, Laura M. Miller, of Dallas, Stephanie Hafner and husband Dan, of Allen, Crystal Brown Tollifson, of Sherman, Jon Williams, of Denison, Ron Williams and wife Adrianne, of Denison, Josh Bevill, of Dallas, Dena Womack, of Van Alstyne; grandson-in-law, Dr. Kenton Parke Schrank, of Sherman; great grandchildren, Britton Gouard, of Pottsboro, Joshua Clifton, of Van Alstyne, Madison Schrank, of Pottsboro, Dakota Hall, of Denison, James Dean Cyr, of Whitewright, Taylor Tollifson, of Whitewright, Makayleigh Williams, of Denison, Anna Clifton, of Allen, Kinlee Williams, of Denison, Rylee Williams, of Denison, Austyn Williams, of Denison, Parker Womack and Noah Womack, of Van Alstyne, and Creed Hafner, of Allen.

A graveside service was held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 10 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, with Bro. Danny Wood, officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were Britton Gouard, Joshua Clifton, Ron Williams, Jon Williams, Mark Williams, Dr. Kenton Parke Schrank, O.C. Miller and Dean Womack. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne. You may sign the online register book at
