Vernon Ruyle Jr.

VAN ALSTYNE — Vernon Ruyle Jr, 90, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Meadowbrook Care Center, Van Alstyne, TX. Vernon was born April 6, 1926 in rural Collin County to Vernon Ruyle Sr and Beulah Mae (Acree) Ruyle.

Vernon served in both the Navy and Army during World War II. Vernon married Mary Ruth Hardin on March 16, 1946. Vernon and Mary moved to Plano, TX in 1956 where he owned and operated a service station until he retired in the late 1980’s. After retirement they moved to Van Alstyne, TX to be closer to family.

Vernon loved to watch Texas Ranger Baseball on TV and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Vernon was a member of The Van Alstyne Church of Christ.

Vernon is survived by his wife Mary; daughter, Diana Turner of Van Alstyne; foster daughter, Mary Ann Medcalf of Mellisa; son, Jerry Ruyle and wife, Jane, of Howe.

Grandchildren, Craig Ruyle, Daniel Ruyle, Brady Stephenson; grandson-in-law and caregiver, Tony Weeks, great grandsons, Skyler Toby Day and Michael Andrew Day; One Brother and two sisters; numerous nieces and nephews. Vernon was preceded in death by his grand-daughter, Tiffany Weeks.

Funeral services will be held on March 8, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. At Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, TX. Ministers Shannon Jackson and Toby Soechting officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery in McKinney, TX. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory 637 W. Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne, TX 75495.
