ANNA - The city of Anna will host a parade for Anna High School seniors starting at 5 p.m. Friday.

The route will begin near the city of Anna water tower on Throckmorton Road, behind Walmart. From there it will proceed east along FM 455 before turning north on West Crossing Blvd.

The procession will end at Anna High School, where the class of 2020 graduation ceremony will take place at 7 p.m.

Graduates will then proceed to their gathering spots while others will be directed away. The number of attendees allowed at the commencement ceremony is restricted due to COVID-19-related social-distancing guidelines.

“The procession is a way for the community to recognize our graduates for the work they’ve done through their academic career, while also recognizing the trying nature of their final semester of high school,” a statement from the city said. “We encourage our neighbors to join or line the procession route to celebrate, cheer on and congratulate our class of 2020.”

High school seniors may begin lining up their vehicles at 4:30 p.m. Others interested in joining the procession are welcome to do so.

Those seeking additional information about the event are asked to call the city of Anna at 214-831-5303.
