The Greater Anna Chamber of Commerce, along with presenting investor Anna Community Development Corporation, honored Jim Rountree with a Lifetime Achievement Award during its Feb. 22 awards banquet.

Since Rountree was in the hospital at the time of the event, family members invited Chamber President/CEO Kevin Hall there to surprise him the day before the banquet.

At the event, Megan Massey took home volunteer of the year honors. The Anna ISD educator was recognized for her involvement and enthusiasm and for giving time and service to a variety of events in the community.

Curtis Hightower earned the Educator of the Year award. The Anna Middle School golf, football and basketball coach was honored for showing dedication and leadership, as well as for consistently providing opportunities for the youth of today to become the leaders of tomorrow.

The Anna Area Historical Preservation Society was presented the Innovation Award in recognition of its efforts to educate, celebrate and inspire people to create the changes found in an economically and culturally thriving community.

Betty Adams-Morriss was given the Citizens Award for her contributions to the community and selfless spirit of service.

Other award-winners included Pin Oaks Christian Fellowship for Business of the Year; Anna ISD for Community Partner of the Year; Frazzy’s Gourmet Popcorn for New Business of the Year; Dr. Jan Wheat for Business Person of the Year; and Stephen Finnerty for Ambassador of the Year.
