Anna City Councilman Chris Reeves, Place 4, announced his resignation during the council’s regular meeting Tuesday evening.


Reeves was first elected to the council in 2017 and was re-elected in May 2019.


He reportedly is stepping down to spend more time with his family.


The Place 4 seat will now be on the ballot for Anna’s upcoming municipal election on May 2.


According to the city’s website, Reeves was born in Sherman but lived abroad as a child. In the late 1990s, his family settled in Whitewright, where he graduated high school.


Since 2002, he has been a certified police officer and holds an Advanced Peace Officer license.


He started his law enforcement career with the Pottoboro Police Department and in 2007 joined the Anna Police Department in 2007, where he served a patrolman, SRO and sergeant.


The same year, he and his wife, Laura, moved to Anna. The couple has three children.


Reeves is currently a sergeant with the Prosper ISD Police Department.
