Bill Morgan is running against incumbent Alonzo Tutson and Josh Vollmer for Anna City Council Place 4.

He is currently employed as a Senior Software Engineer that creates software for credit unions. Morgan said he is running for city council for his family.

“I am running for city council because I want to make Anna a better place to live and raise our children,” he said.

Morgan said he would like to assist the city in implementing a few things.

“I would like the city to adopt an effective tax rate so that citizen’s tax bills will stop increasing,” he said. “The city needs to do a better job of attracting businesses to the city so that we can expand our tax base and eventually reduce our dependence on residential property taxes. This would allow the city to actually lower the tax bills of the citizens.”

Morgan said he’d like to see Anna attract businesses that create a product rather than sell a service.

“Manufacturing brings new money into the community while retail and restaurants mostly move the money already here into new pockets,” he said. “We need to focus our attention on attracting businesses that produce a product that can be sold outside our city so that new money flows into the city.”

Morgan said he wants to help correct city staffing issues.

“We need to hire more firefighters and police officers,” Morgan said. “Our current staffing levels do not meet the recommended minimum staffing for a city our size.”
