Melissa Lady Cardinal sprinters claimed three gold medals at the District 11-4A track and field meet, April 3-4, at Aubrey, pacing the team to a third-place finish, one point back of Celina. Kaylee Lewis earned two of the golds, besting the field in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, while the 4X100-meter relay team of Payton Wallace, Bria Bullard, Jayden Bullard and Lewis took gold as well. A fourth Melissa gold was won by Marisa Brunson in the pole vault competition.

Altogether, 18 Lady Cards in nine events qualified for the area meet to be held in Dallas on April 17. A top-four finish at district is required to reach the area round.

Gold-medal times/distances for Melissa at district included:

-Lewis, 100-meter dash; 11.53 seconds

-Lewis, 200-meter dash; 24.35 seconds

-4X100 relay; 48.93 seconds

-Brunson, pole vault; 10 feet, 6 inches
