Anna improved its district record to 2-3 with a 5-2 win at Gainesville on April 2. It was the Coyotes’ second-straight victory after an 0-3 start in district play. Anna’s Rawley Hector struck out 16 and walked one while scattering four hits in a complete-game performance. Hector also went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and he led off the game with a double. Coyote Zach Howard had a 2-for-2 night with an RBI and teammate Jaden Adams went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Anna tagged Leopards starter Dylan Burnett for nine hits and three earned runs over six innings. Draike Sparks came on for Gainesville in the seventh and worked a scoreless, hitless frame. The Leopards’ defense committed six errors to Anna’s three.

Gainesville led, 1-0, after four frames but the Coyotes bounced back three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Michael Burnside’s single to center started things for Anna in the fifth and he moved to third on an error on the play. Hector then singled to left to score Burnside and Jacob Odom followed with another single to left. Hector came home on an error on Odom’s hit and, next up, Howard walked. Then with the Coyotes leading, 2-1, and runners at the corners, Adams’ single to left plated Odom. After a walk to Josh Packard and infield fly-out, Gainesville got out of the inning with a double play.

The Leopards got one back in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out, RBI single.

To lead off the sixth, John Mark Box got aboard for Anna via infield error. Burnside sacrifice-bunted Box over to second and Hector walked. Then with two outs after a fly-out to center, Howard and Adams slapped back-to-singles, scoring Box and Howard.
