Anna boosted its district record to 2-3 after wins last week over Gainesville and Sanger. At the midpoint of the District 11-4A race, the Coyotes hold the district’s fourth and final playoff seed.

In Friday’s thriller at Gainesville, the Coyotes prevailed, 56-55, on the strength of a Jaden Adams driving layup down the lane. The Leopards’ attempt to answer in the final 10 seconds was off the mark. Anna’s Jayden Rodgers came up big with six points in the fourth quarter and Adams posted four points in the game’s final two minutes. Micah Cotton and Rodgers led the Coyotes with 11 points each, and Cotton and Josiah Mackey drained two 3s apiece.

Versus Sanger, Anna built a 33-21 lead by halftime then cruised on to a 62-49 victory. Cotton led the Coyotes with 15 points, Jackson Vandagriff rolled to 13 and Mackey canned 4-of-4 shots from 3-point range in the second quarter. Cotton also totaled three steals in the contest.
