In non-district basketball action last week, Melissa was defeated by Era, 60-49, on Dec. 11 and fell to Decatur, 53-38, on Saturday. The Class 2A Era Lady Hornets (13-2) led 21-5 after one quarter and 35-18 at the half as Era’s Briana Knabe rolled to 31 points. Guard Sally Clemmons finished with a team-high 20 points for Melissa, including three 3-pointers.


At Class 4A Decatur, the Lady Eagles (14-4) got out to a 13-8 first-quarter lead and held a 38-28 advantage after three quarters. Grace Lowery scored a game-high 16 points for Decatur. Clemmons’ 11 points led the Lady Cards (7-13) while Mia Ellis and Gideon recorded nine points each.
