Anna High School student Alexy Schofield received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition last Friday on the occasion of her appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Congressman Ratcliffe presented the award to the senior in front of her family, friends, classmates, teachers and coaches.

Schofield was honored last month on Feb. 6 when she was presented with a special banner at the AHS Winter Sports pep rally to honor her being named one of 97 Semper Fidelis All-Americans from across the country by the United States Marine Corps last spring. Schofield was also one of just six awardees from the state of Texas.

The Semper Fidelis All-American program recognizes high school students who best demonstrate achievement in academics, athletics and community leadership.

Schofield is extremely involved in the Coyote community. She is active in cheer, soccer, cross country, Spanish Club, National Honor Society and the Student Government Association. She is the student body president of her school this year and is also active in Rotary Youth Leadership. She hopes to study oceanic engineering in college.
