Last summer the Kirby-Smith Machinery contacted the Anna Economic Development Corporation and expressed an interest in building a facility north of 380 on Highway 75. For the past several months, the Anna EDC and Kirby-Smith have been in negotiations for an economic development agreement, making Kirby-Smith the first tenant in the new business park. The land slotted for the new business park is an 85-acre tract of land located at the northeast corner of Highway 5 and the Collin County Outer Loop.
Kirby-Smith Machinery is a heavy equipment dealer with locations throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. They specialize in selling, renting and support of industrial and construction equipment.
Kirby-Smith, under the agreement with the Anna Community Development Corporation, will invest $8 million for the new facility and all the needed equipment. The company will sit on seven acres of the business park. Kirby-Smith projects that within the first year of operation, being able to invest $200,000 back into the city of Anna. Kirby-Smith will also create a minimum of 10 jobs, and eventually grow to 30 employees.
The company plans on being an integral part of the community by supporting community events and partnering with Anna High School for internship positions.
Jessica Perkins, Anna EDC chief administrative officer, said she is looking forward to the possibilities the new company will bring.
“Our staff is excited about the opportunity to partner with Kirby-Smith Machinery and have them as our first tenant in the business park,” Perkins said.
