Harry McKillop Elementary School welcomed six guest speakers Thursday morning for a Career Day assembly.

The guests spoke to second and third grade students about their professions, with an emphasis on how reading plays an integral role in the work that they do every day. Students were invited to ask questions and join the stage for demonstrations.

As part of the Career Day assembly, and the school’s “Wildly Important Goal” of creating a culture of reading, the Melissa Rotary surprised students with a donation of 100 new dictionaries for the school library.

Career Day guest speakers included Nathan Demel, Engineer at Raytheon; Steve Rodriguez, Pharmacist at MedPro Pharmacy; Yves Hadnot, Nurse at Baylor Medical Center; Jason Day, Police Officer for the Richardson Police Department; John McGraw, Retired Collin County Judge; and Stefani Day, Veterinarian at the Animal Hospital of Melissa.
