More than 200 second grade students at Harry McKillop Elementary came together on Jan. 26 to present their six-part music program for teachers and family members.

The musical featured decades-old favorites, including “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” “The Locomotion,” “Witch Doctor,” “Three Little Birds,” “Joy to the World,” and “Peppermint Twist.” Students not only sang enthusiastically throughout the half-hour program, but also performed different sets of choreography for each song. A number of students portrayed themed characters and incorporated various props.

Key performers were Remington Day as Witch Doctor; Maddux Clark as Sleepy Lion; Everett Bell, Ava Jones, Olivia Jones, and Kallie Womack at microphone; Reagan Perry on guitar; and Emma Pope and Jacqui Culp on ukulele.

The Harry McKillop Elementary second grade music program was a result of the diligence of the second grade class in conjunction with music director Pam Fortner.
