Looking to start off the district season on the right foot, Anna played host to Community on Tuesday night. Anna had a two RBI triple in the third inning that gave them the lead that they never relinquished on their way to the 8-0 win.

Ty Chapman had the one-hit, shutout win from the mound for the Coyotes, who will play in Bonham on Friday night and then take on a tough Princeton squad next Tuesday night in Anna.

Anna 8, Community 0

Anna took on the Community Braves in their 12-3A district opener on Tuesday night and were able to put the runs on the board – figuratively – on their way to a shutout win.

The Coyotes were quiet in the first two innings, going through their rotation but not able to get any of their runners in but that all changed when they came to bat in the bottom of the third.

Chapman started off the inning with a single, Austin Watkins reached on a walk and then Shane Loftice hit a two-RBI triple to give the Coyotes the advantage. Loftice came in a few plays later when Kyle Leonard was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score the third run of the inning.

Gage Scribner started off the fifth inning with a single and then Matt Lagrone was hit by a pitch to get on. Joseph Lopez was walked and the Coyotes had the bases loaded with just one out. Scribner would eventually score on a passed ball and Brayden Houston was walked, again loading the bases when Watkins came to the plate.

Watkins belted a triple to deep left field, scoring three base runners and giving the Coyotes a 7-0 lead.

Scribner would score again, this time in the sixth courtesy of an LaGrone RBI and that was all Anna needed as they went on to win big in their district opener.
