The Bonham Warriors rolled to a 17-4 run-rule win over Anna on Tuesday, April 17, at the Anna Sports Complex, edging themselves into playoff contention with two district games left. The Warriors (3-5) are now a game back of District 11-4A’s fourth and final post-season spot while the Coyotes (4-4) remain in third place.
Bonham jumped to a 6-0 lead in the second inning then pushed to an 8-0 advantage before the Coyotes answered with a run in the third. Anna added two more in the fourth but, all told, the Warriors would outhit Anna, 12-5, in the six-inning curtailed contest.
Coyote starter Rawley Hector went two innings on the mound, allowing seven earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four. Colton Brown came on in the third and worked two frames, permitting one run on two hits and a walk. Derek Kirschner threw the fifth and one out in the sixth as three earned runs scored on six walks. Jaden Adams got the final two outs as the Warriors gained three runs on three hits. Bonham hitters collected four doubles and two triples.
Two Warrior pitchers combined to strike out eight and walk seven and allowed no extra-base hits.
Hector led Anna batters, going 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs while Adams and Jacob Williams tallied a hit and an RBI each. Dylan Burr had the other Coyote hit.
