Aubrey plated a run in the sixth inning to ease by Anna’s Coyotes, 2-1, on Tuesday, April 10, at Aubrey. The loss dropped Anna (3-3) into a tie with the Chaparrals for third place in District 11-4A with four games to go. The first four teams at the end of district play make the playoffs.
Aubrey’s eventual game-winner came on a bases-loaded wild pitch. In the seventh inning, the Coyotes’ attempt to tie was thwarted when Gabe Surdukan was thrown out at home plate on Jaden Adams’ two-out single to center field, ending the contest.
Starter Rawley Hector went the whole way for Anna, striking out 10 while scattering six hits and allowing one walk. Hector also went tor 2-for-3 at the plate, as did Adams. Jacob Odom, Zach Howard and Colton Brown each posted singles for Anna.

Each team scored once in the first inning. Hector tallied Anna’s run on a passed ball after opening the contest with a single, stealing second and moving to third on Howard’s ground-out to second. The Chaps answered with a two-out RBI-single in the bottom of the frame, scoring a runner who’d reached on an error.
