Celina scored three runs in the eighth inning to get by Anna, 6-3, on Friday, March 23, in District 11-4 action at the Anna Sports Complex. The Coyotes (1-1) had rallied for three runs in the fifth to tie. This was Anna’s second-straight extra-inning district contest. The Coyotes topped Aubrey, 6-5, in eight innings in the district-opener on March 20.


Pitcher Zach Howard started for Anna and worked five innings, allowing five hits and four walks while striking out seven. Colton Brown came on in relief and permitted seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts over the final three frames. Two Bobcat pitchers combined to five-hit Anna, striking out six and walking six.


Celina (1-1) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and stretched it to 3-0 in the third. The Coyotes’ fifth-inning rally started with two walks followed by Rawley Hector’s single to left that scored Tate Stroup. Brown’s sacrifice fly to right then sent Jaden Adams home with Anna’s second run. After another walk, Howard doubled to left scoring Hector from third for the 3-3 tie.
