Sanger’s Lady Indians broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the fourth inning then cruised to a 6-2 non-district win over Melissa on Friday, March 9, at Sanger. Pitcher Alexis Pevehouse went the whole way for the Lady Cards, striking out eight and walking two. Her Sanger counterpart struck out seven and walked three. Melissa (8-4) out-hit the Lady Indians, 10-8, plating single runs in the third and sixth innings.

The Lady Cards led, 1-0, in the third on Audrey Solomon’s two-out single and a Savannah Rodriguez double to center field. Sanger tied it on a wild pitch with two out in the bottom of the inning. In the fourth, the Lady Indians’ four-run charge was fueled by two singles and three Melissa miscues. Sanger added another run in the fifth to lead, 6-1. The Lady Cards answered a frame later on Pevehouse’s single to center that drove in Maggie Rodgers.

Solomon finished with three hits in four at-bats while Rodriguez and Kylee Brakebill went 2-for-4.
