The Melissa Cardinals rolled to a 73-60 win over Caddo Mills in non-district play on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Melissa High’s Bird Cage. The Cards (8-10) stormed to a 27-11 lead by the end of the first quarter and held a 47-25 advantage at halftime. Melissa guard Mark Fisher canned a game-high four 3-pointers — all in the second quarter — and finished with a team-high 16 points. Other Cards reaching double-digit scoring were forward Josh Wood with 15, guard Brendon Lewis with 14 and guard Matt Holloway with 10. Lewis also collected nine rebounds to lead the team.
Hunter Sparks’ three blocks were tops for Melissa, and Junior Castleberry and Brendon Lewis each collected a team-high four assists. Caddo Mills (10-7, 1-0 District 12-4A) was led by freshman Savion Neal who tallied 17 points.
