Melissa sophomore Alison Kocsis qualified for the UIL state cross country meet after her performance at the Class 4A Region 2 meet on Monday, Oct. 23, at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. This is the second straight year that Kocsis has qualified for state.


The state meet will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas.


Kocsis finished 13th in a field of 180 girls on the 3,200-meter course at the Region 2 meet, with a time of 12 minutes, 16.43 seconds.

Erin Eichel — 14 minutes, 15.14 seconds


Kaitlyn Trussell — 14 minutes, 49.83 seconds

Viktorya Dietrich — 17 minutes, 17.75 seconds


Overall, Melissa finished 12th among the 24 participating Region 2 teams. The top five squads, in order, were Kaufman, Decatur, Gilmer, Kilgore and Anna.
