Anna defeated Terrell, 10-4, at Wylie East High School on Tuesday, Oct. 17, in the first round of the Class 4A tennis playoffs. This is the second-straight year Anna has advanced to the second round of post-season play.

Coyotes head coach Vince Sharp noted that district-mates Melissa and Princeton also won their first-round contests. “This makes the first year all three District 11-4A teams won their first-round playoff matches,” he said.

Versus Terrell, Anna rolled to a 6-1 lead after doubles competition, then moved to a 10th win in singles play, with three losses. At that point, the five remaining matches were pulled as the results would not have affected the outcome. Anna’s Simon Geren was allowed to continue as he and his opponent were finishing a third-set tiebreaker, which Terrell hung on to win.

Anna players were leading in the five matches that were pulled.
