Four members of Melissa’s Lady Cardinal regional-semifinalist soccer team have been selected for All-Region/All-State honors by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches. In results just released for Class 4A Region I, junior midfielder Kendall Bates was named to the Second-Team All-State squad, sophomore Brittany Morgan earned All-State Honorable Mention as a goalkeeper, sophomore Reagan Eichel was named a First-Team All-Region defender and senior Amanda Kocsis made First-Team All-Region as a forward.

“Being recognized for these awards is a huge honor,” Melissa head coach Manuel Avila said, “but more a compliment to each of these girls for the season they had — or in Amanda and Kendall’s case, the careers they had. I believe everyone one of these girls would be thankful to their teammates, because without them none of this would be possible. I am extremely proud of these girls.”

The district-champion Lady Cards advanced to the regional tournament this past season after defeating Forth Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis in the regional quarterfinals.
