In their last home meet on March 27 Anna seniors Maddie Gillespie, Johnny Alvarado and Jonah Parker swept their matches in leading the Coyotes to a convincing 17-2 win over Pottsboro’s Cardinals.

The rest of Anna’s squad did their part as well.

“The team was all business tonight,” Coyotes head coach Vince Sharp said. “We had a ton of close matches that they just refused to lose.”

This was Anna’s final tune-up before the District 11-4A met in Princeton on Monday and Tuesday.

In girls singles, Gillespie won her matches over Pottsboro opponents, 8-2, 8-0, and teammate Sydney Jones defeated the same two Cardinals, 8-1, 8-0. Anna’s Emily McDonald topped her opposition, 8-5, before falling in the next round.

In boys singles action, Coyote Jesus Garrido swept three matches by an 8-5 score while fellow team member Rowdy Lairson prevailed, 8-2. Anna’s Zack Eade defeated his opponent by an 8-2 mark as well. In boys doubles, Alvarado and Spencer May teamed to stop a Pottsboro pair, 8-6, as Eade and Parker claimed an 8-0 shutout.

Lady Coyotes Jewel Canty and Mary Beth Geren won their doubles matches, 8-3, 8-0, while teammates Ally Fudge and Zoe Stumbaugh stopped their Pottsboro rivals, 8-2, before dropping an 8-4 decision. In mixed doubles, Lairson and Angel Dube won both of their matches, 8-0, 8-0, as Simon Geren and Nalyn Koenig were victorious as well, 8-4.
