Anna’s 400-meter relay team of Tamaya Tutson, Raye Moran, Jazmin Pender and Jada Ramirez took first place at the Farmersville Spring Break Relays on March 16, helping the Lady Coyotes to a fourth-place finish in the 13-team field.


The girls’ winning time was 4 minutes, 8.13 seconds. Also earning gold for Anna was sophomore Madison Hemenway, who bested the competition in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5 minutes, 50.21 seconds. Hemenway earlier claimed silver in the 3,200 meters with a time of 12 minutes, 36.77 seconds.


The senior Moran earned silver as well in the 800 meters, with a time of 2 minutes, 2.75 seconds. Pender claimed another medal in the 400 meters, taking bronze in a time of 1 minute, 2.7 seconds. Tutson also took third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.13 seconds and she finished fourth in the 200 meters, completing the race in 27.02 seconds. Junior Angelica Armijo claimed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.07 seconds, and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing in 52.79 seconds.


Other Lady Coyote performances earning points at the event included: junior Katie Kemp’s fifth place in the shot put; sixth place in the 200-meter relay by Ramirez, Jasmine Harper, Precious Antwi and Racheal Readus; and Harper’s sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash.


The competing teams on March 16 included Atlanta, Celina, Clarkesville, Daingerfield, Farmersville, Honey Grove, Ferris, Nocona, North Hopkins, Redwater, Blue Ridge and Melissa. Celina claimed first place with 131 points.
